The Gratitude Campaign

I figure most of us have been in a position where we see a passing soldier in uniform and are either too embarrassed or too busy to thank them. I was intrigued when Christina Coe (the wife of a soldier deployed with Tim) passed this along to me. It is worth a look.

  2. I liked the introduction that stated “it’s not about politics.”

Out here, there is nothing that rings more true. Politics aren’t even part of the equation - on the battlefield. Here, it’s about taking care of fellow soldiers and a fierce sense of duty. If you don’t do your job, another soldier may pay the price. Soldiers are in a symbiotic relationship with each other. It takes the Infantry, Armor, and Artillery to provide security and protect the base - which houses the Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Logistics personnel, and MEDEVAC units that go and get the soldier - who may get hurt providing that security for the base.

As Tiffany can tell you, once I learned they were activating us - there was no discussion of “why,” “for whom,” or “for what.” None of that matters. If I’m being activated, it’s beyond that.

We are not politicians, statesmen, or diplomats = we are the execution arm of democracy.
