Caged

Weekends always seem to be the toughest for me. They are long and there is little routine. Most people are occupied with family activities or sports so playdates are few and far between. But now that the cold is settling in I am beginning to feel caged. Is it possible to feel this way already?

Briggs was interested in checking out some books on the Titanic so I took the kids to the library this weekend. Let’s just say at one point I lost total control of my children. One was in fiction, another in audio-visual, one at the fish tank and the other at the computers. You may ask why even bother…well at least we felt the fresh air. On the way home they were all yelling ‘ahhhhh’ in the back of the van and laughing about it as I rubbed my forehead. Finally, Briggs said, “Mom…this is what you get for having four kids.” I had to laugh along with them.

We also happened to catch a Ruditoonz concert…our A#1 Indianapolis superstar. The kids had a blast dancing in the toddler mosh pit. See the image below…Rudi and Campbell seem to have the same expression but very different emotion. Don’t forget to look for the Daddy Doll.

I spoke with Tim tonight. It was great to hear his voice…it had been awhile. He and his troops appreciate the packages that are sent. It is always a nice surprise when the mail arrives each day.

Note: Gage no longer wants to be referred to as Gage. I must call him Obi-Wan. He even wears the brown cape as a reminder. Oh…and he is thirteen not three.

Special thanks to…Helena for a great potato soup dinner. Shannon for dropping off some frozen soups to keep for just when the time is right. Bill for taking Briggs to a movie. Matt for fixing my drawer. The Creekstone mothers for keeping an eye on the afterschool football games. Debbie for relating so well to me. Becky for the phone calls.

  1. hang in there. When do you want us. We could probably help you out for a couple of days. At least I could! Dad and I shopped today for Tim. Have a box of goodies to send tomorrow. Just curious, how long does it take for you to receive priority? Any special requests - it’s Christmas.
    Love to all Caroline

  2. Caroline,

Thank you for the last care package and yes, the chocolate and marshmallows made it - due to the cooler weather. We didn’t have the capabilitiy to make the smores - so, the troops definitley enjoyed the chocolate by itself!

Mail is usually about 8 days or so. Don’t use priority - because there is no such thing. The postal service state their disclaimer that priority can still take upto two weeks.

  4. Tif,

Funny…on the way to Day Care this morning Parker and I were listening to the Ruditoonz CD you sent us. Looks like a lot of in person.

Hang in there, you are doing great.
