Parenting and Pictures
You would think having four children might give me a moderate expertise in the area of parenting…yet I find myself in new territory almost daily. Half of the time I don’t know if I should laugh or yell. For instance…
- The assembly line bathing approach is the easiest thing for me right now. But what do you say to one-year old twin girls who grab a handful of balls when bathing with their big brother? Talk about intrigue. And…do you think the twins really understand, “Girls, we don’t touch other’s privates.” Heck…Gage even thinks it is kind of funny.
- Or how about the fascination with scissors that Gage currently has. I think I have hidden every pair in the house yet somehow he wound up with a pair in his bedroom today. He was giving the cat and he matching haircuts. Now…all I could think of was the hideous haircut my brother, Nate, gave himself at roughly the same age. Is this some right of passage that children must do and parents must endure?
- The one that threw me for a real loop was yesterday morning as the boys were sitting at breakfast Briggs said to me plainly, “Did you know Britney Spears lost her children?” My mouth dropped first…then I asked if he even knew who she was… then followed it with a where-in-the-world did you hear that? Well…I left my People Magazine on the table and nosey-body decided to flip threw the pages. Come to find out though…Briggs took the headline literally. He asked me where she lost them…I guess he figured it was just like in the park where I lost Gage. If you never read the Family Print Post it was a doozy.
So…what can I say other than I have come to realize that I am no expert, I am going to find myself in many situations where I want to laugh but probably need to reprimand, and kids say the darnedest things.
Here are some great pictures that Nate took for us at the school assembly on Veteran’s Day.
…
Special thanks to…all of my neighborhood friends that attended the Veteran’s Day assembly and then suggested we get coffee afterward. Barb and Alfega for taking the girls on a walk. Sara for taking the girls on a walk. Becky for driving Gage to school. Gwen for a fun night with the kids. Anne Casavant for some fun time with the babies.
I seriously don’t even know where you find the time to post anything to the blog???
The daily chores of feeding, dressing, and “assembly line bathing” - reads like absolute paradise to me.
The Veteran’s Day assembly looks great!
Nate, great job (as always) with the photography! Amazing!
Take care,

maybe at lunch next time- remind me
Love the camo blazers. You are great. Kids are always very literal. wouldn’t you just die if they really did understand all of what is going on around them? Take care
