Traveling Tim
Ever hear of the ‘Traveling Gnome’? It was the subplot of one of my favorite movies, Amelie. I thought I would take a different yet similar approach. So, the Daddy Doll is going with us everywhere now. We even took him to the Zoo today.
Tim is a bright guy! He figured I may need a night away while he was deployed. So…for my birthday in June he got me just that…a night at a hotel. After ten days of illness, I was READY for my night away. In fact, I was more than ready…at that point it was a necessity. Tim’s father and stepmother thankfully agreed to stay with the kids.
As I pulled away, I felt like I was my own best friend. I was thTrilled to spend the evening alone…no talking…no itinerary…no food preparation…no laundry…nothing! When I got to the hotel, I immediately took a nap. After several hours of uninterrupted sleep, I walked around the city, shopped, drank a cocktail and ate a filet at The Palamino, had a massage and a hot bath. Then I fell into deep slumber. The following day, I had a great run around the Museum campus and breakfast at our favorite spot.
It was fabulous with the exception of missing my Partner! I loved taking Traveling Tim along…I had more fun taking pictures than anything! Wish the life-size version could have joined me.

…
Special thanks to…John and Roby for watching all of the kids so I could get away for a night. Ann and Kara for the fabulous, surprise massage. Cathy Rood for the real bubble bath. Patricia Offenbacker for the Starbuck’s drop-offs. Debbie Hackleman for a deep conversation and perfect friendship. Beth Hohman for the grocery trip.
You look absolutely beautiful!
The trip sounds like fun, and as usual, you made it a positive experience. You have a wonderful sense of humor that will provide you with the needed sanity - in the road ahead.
I wish I could have been there.
I love you!
