Two point conversion?

It is safe to say that I had no idea what it meant when I was told that Briggs made a two-point conversion but I sure high-fived him like I knew. I am learning.

I’m not convinced Briggs thoroughly enjoys organized sports…he would much rather play backyard sports…he is such a homebody! In fact, I asked him if he would like to play Spring Baseball after seeing how he can really slug a baseball across the yard but he replied he would rather play ‘backyard baseball’ with his friends.

The two things that remain constant with Briggs is he need to be social (he is totally my child) and his desire to stay home (he is totally his father’s son).

Nate showed up at the football fields with his two-foot lens and snapped a couple images of Briggs in action. I knew Tim would love to see these as he has never seen Briggs play football.

We had a great weekend with my cousin, Suzy, in town from Miami. She is consistently striving to be our favorite cousin (#1) but she has some stiff competition. Nate picked her up at the airport with a large sign hanging out of his sunroof. It said only one thing “#2″…kind of an inside joke but one that won’t die. She is considering moving to Indy just to move up in ranking!

We actually hit the town Friday night! We went to ‘Howl at the Moon’, a dueling piano bar with several other Army wives. We had so much fun dancing on stage and watching our friend, Sara, get wild!

All kidding aside, Suzy has been a tremendous support for me while Tim has been deployed. I can count on at least one call a day from her. She is so over the top dramatic it is nothing but fun talking to her.

To add to my “Good Things” list…I realized over the weekend that Tim’s deployment has brought me closer to many people, including Suzy. There are some friends I have gotten reconnected with since he has been gone. There are other relationships that have become more authentic. And there are some prior acquaintances that I now call friends. All of that is a ‘Good Thing.’

Special thanks to…the other Army wives for a great night out. Beth Olsen for a great run for Zionsville Boys & Girls Club. Judy Pugh for hanging out and then washing my dishes while I was talking to Tim. Kathy Rood for the ‘Dinners by Design’ frozen dinners. Charity Berger for the chicken pot pie. Sara Bauer for hanging out and being such fun to have around. Grandpa Bill for treating Gage to a special night on his own, cheering on the sidelines for Briggs, and hanging some pictures in the office. My dad for running a quick errand. Nate, Helena, and Elin for our weekly get togethers. My mom.

  1. I love these pictures!

Briggs looks like a big boy, although he is still so skinny. He looks as if he is enjoying himself and displaying a momentary session of competitiveness.

It’s great to catch a little of the game through these photos - thanks Nate!

  3. Stick with the game. The Rowe’s have always had a nerdy streak when it comes to organized sports. Team play is great preparation for adult life. Bet you could pick out the relatives who have and haven’t played as a team. Let’s see……….
PS I like the legs. He’s darling.

  6. Tonight was curriculum night at Hattie’s school and I am pleased to announce that #2 may in fact be Hattie’s #1. In class Hattie wrote a story of one of her favorite relatives and she picked Suzy….a very cute narrative. Congratulations Suzy!!
