Some ideas…

I receive the warmest email messages and phone calls weekly asking for specific items our friends can send Tim. Honestly, he is a simple man. He really feels like he has everything he needs for the time being. However, I went to a family meeting yesterday with other wives of soldiers and came home with some ideas:

1) The soldiers will be dropping stuffed animals from the aircraft as they go over small villages for the children. We are taking up a collection of stuffed animals for them to use. You may send them directly to Tim. He will make sure they are distributed accordingly.

2) There are some soldiers that do not get a lot of correspondence. The unit is tracking those individuals. I thought it might be nice if some packages were sent to those soldiers instead of Tim. I can provide more details if you are interested…please email me.

3) We will be sending each soldier a stocking for Christmas. If you are interested, we need stocking stuffers in late-October. I will make sure that whatever items you send get distributed into the individual stockings.

4) Apparently, power adapters are a valuable item. This is an excellent item that can be sent.

5) Magnets. The living quarters for the soldiers are metal so magnets are a great item to send so that they can ‘decorate’ their rooms with pictures, etc.

6) While the air conditioner cools adequately it also leaves the living quarters with a musty smell. Some of the soldiers have requested air fresheners.

7) As always, other items that are greatly appreciated: phone cards, books, CDs, and DVDs.

Special thanks to…Sheryl for another delicious meal. Who knew the girls would like asparagus and pork tenderloin. The Hohman’s for taking the boys kayaking.

One Response

  1. Tiffany is right (as usual), I do not require a lot of extras.

Most of the men have some combination of: TVs, DVD players, radios, gaming systems, movies, etc. Me = I have nothing in my room and want nothing. I’m not wired that way. I have a bed, my gear, and an iPod - that’s it. One caveat, coffee. With enough coffee - I can conquer the world :)

Any package I receive, will be shared with the entire unit.

Thank you all for your continued support!
