A point of clarification…

I think I may have confused some of our readers with my last post entitled First Combat Flight. I had previously written about flying over the desert and seeing Bedouin, camels and miles of sand. My previous flights in the desert were in Kuwait - not Iraq. Kuwait is not considered a combat zone. So, although I had flown in Kuwait - I had never flown in a combat zone, with the enemy and other inherent risks.

I apologize for any confusion.

The troops are well, morale is good and we’re executing the mission.

  1. I knew what you meant!

Just picked up 12+ cards for you so be watching the mail. Helena told me today that Nate sends you a postcard every day and gets horribly upset if he ever misses a day. That’s my son!

The family is in St. Louis enjoying time with Stu & Susan. Can’t imagine what it must be like with 8 kids under nine in one house. Non stop action that’s for sure.

    Love you and be safe!

  3. Tim,

Thanks for all the sacrifices that you and your family are making on our behalf. Having four children as well I cannot imagine the challenges for both of you as parents.

My 13 year old had to write a paper tonight, I guess he was too busy watching ND get drilled by Georgia Tech on Saturday to do it on his own. So to the rescue came Dad. His paper had to be about a local character, in a busy place with a climax event.

Instead of Peyton, or Bradley’s (#1 son) baseball city championship (i was the coach), I suggested a paper on Captain Stoner! I read the blog every so often to stay in tune with your mission. The paper he wrote mentioned a local hero, climaxing with your deployment. Most importantly, it asked his 8th grade class (St. Jude Parochial) to pray for you and your family! Hang in there! If there something I can do for you or your family, please let me know. Steve

I’ll let you know what score he gets on the paper…
