School is in session!

We are all about major change here at the Stoner household today. Not only did Briggs start second grade but Gage made the transition to a ‘big boy bed’ and ‘big boy pants’. With the incentive of candy and a future trip to Chuckee Cheese we are successful (so far).

I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of Briggs on the first day back at school, especially with his favorite bus driver, Janet. We bought each child their own tree and planted them in our backyard this summer. Briggs has a Bradford Pear. So…each year he will be photographed in front of his tree to not only see his growth but that of the tree.

If you are thinking a haircut might be in Briggs’ future…you are probably right.

Special thanks to…Angela Talley for meeting me for an impromptu lunch and a heartwarming book called ‘Tie the Yellow Ribbon’.  Ann Smith for a great conversation late last night.  Jeni and Joe Ihm for their upcoming visit…I cannot wait.  Mom for helping me in the evenings.  The Mantel’s for a surprise supper.  Beth Hohman for coordinating the troop collection at the block party…Tim’s unit will be so pleased with all of the goods.  Sheryl Chelovitz for one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Becky Zimpfer for the back-to-school cupcakes.  Susan Sedita for the Starbuck’s gift card…she knew there was a drive-thru nearby.  The Rent Family for hanging out with Briggs.  Shannon and Mike Barron for hanging out with Gage.  Our babysitter, Heather Schneider, for just being a tremendous help.

A VERY SPECIAL THANKS TO…Cathy Rood, Judy Pugh, The Hohman Family, and The Cramer Family.  They each took one child for the entire day on Saturday so that I could attend a baby shower for my dear cousin, Betsy.  I SO enjoyed the silence of the trip to Cincinnati and back.  And, I SO enjoyed being with my Aunt Nine, Betsy and Suzy for a few hours alone.

  1. Go for it Gage, you can do it. Now, Briggs, you are lucky that you only have to have your picture taken in front of a tree. I made Betsy and Suzanne hold up a sign - even when they went to college. Congrats on 2nd grade. The girls start to get a little cuter about now!! Nice letter and picture for your dad. Love Aunt 9

  4. Those are my great grandsons! So proud of you both. I got to high “5″ Gage tonight when he told me he used the potty, had dry undies all day and was sleeping in his big boy bed. Read him stories tonight, but he still prefers Mommy and misses Daddy very much.
Briggs told me about his new room, desk and teacher. Go Briggs!

  5. Tiffany, Tim and kids,
I just read a few posts and had to say that it is bringing me to tears. You two are amazing and show what it means to be grateful. Sophie still remembers Tiffany and Jughead from when she met you back in Clarendon Hills! We are keeping you all in our hearts and prayers, and sending love to the beautiful children. Tif, you are allowed to go psycho every once in awhile and it sounds like you have a lot of really special people to bail you out when needed.
    Much love,
Elizabeth, Pete, Sophie, Will and Rowan
