Far and wide…

After missing his call last night, Tim was thankfully able to call again today.  It made me recall the days of waiting by the phone (hence before cell phones!).  It is not a feeling I am terribly fond of.

He and several other members of his unit left for Iraq today.  I wish I could say we had a great conversation but we didn’t.  The girls were crying, Gage went outside on his own, Briggs wanted a snack, and there were some neighborhood kids visiting.  Yeah…not an environment conducive to deep, loving dialogue.  The ‘Good Thing’ is I didn’t miss the call this time.

It made me think how vital it is to prioritize your marriage before your children.  It is nearly impossible to do when they are young but it is a goal of mine when Tim returns.

Apparently, the blog is reaching far and wide.  It has made its way to many of Tim’s high school friends.  I want to thank them for the comments, and of course, their prayers.  Tim has evolved into a great man…a long way from the troublesome high school kid!  At least I know what I am in for with two boys following, right?

My heart feels a little heavy today…I could use a good run! And, wouldn’t you know it…my house is perfectly quiet right now.  AHHH!

Special thanks to…Cathy Dwyer for the treats from the farmer’s market.  Anne Casavant for a delicious lasagna meal.  Beth Hohman for letting us invade on their home for dinner.  Kelly Alcock for offering to drive Briggs home from flag football practice.   Sheryl Chelovitz for taking Briggs to the water park.  Hohman’s for taking Gage to the pool.

  1. Hi Tiffany,

I left a message earlier today and now see it on your postings. Thank you. I am thrilled for Tim to know I finally tracked him down and to let him know I am thinking about your family.

I have three children (one of them in a Military High School down here in Florida) and I want tell them about the funny, crazy guy I went to high school with who is now serving our Country and the sacrifices you all have made.

I would love to have his address so we can send him a “care package” of some of the items you suggested. If possible, please email it to me at magzzz3@yahoo.com

    Thank you, Maggie.

  2. Tiffany,

As soon as I read this, my first instinct was to go to the phone and call you. Then I remembered what a bible teacher told me once. “Before you go to the phone go to the throne.” So I prayed for you instead. As I opened my bible, my eyes came upon this verse:

“The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

May God continue to draw you to Him during those rare, but precious quiet times.

    With love,
    Alfega

I second Maggie’s email. We all hung out together in high school - during Tim’s wilder days. Wild or not –Tim was alot of fun to be with and always made you laugh. You picked a good one ! My email is : pamk@streetlevelagency.com and I too would love to send him something to let him know all of us in Warsaw are thinking about him and proud of his (and your whole family’s) sacrifice on behalf of our country.

  4. Tiffany–
My heart’s a little heavy after reading this. Sorry you didn’t get a little quiet time to talk. Taking a page from your book… Good Thing: Hearing the sounds of little feet running around the house (or down the street in Gage’s case). Some day (although it’s hard to imagine) our houses will probably be too quiet for our own liking and we’ll miss that noise.

    Sending a hug!
    A
