She’s right, 24×7…

Since we deployed, training has been everyday; 7 days-per-week. However, a couple of weeks ago we also added 24-hour operations. We needed to complete more Aviation training that is geared to test our collective skills (pilot, crew chief, flight medic, maintenance, operations, communications, etc.). From the collective training, we immediately moved into our ARTEP (Army Training and Evaluation Program). The ARTEP is our validation exercise that is evaluated from an entity inside the Army - called TSB. We completed the ARTEP on Saturday afternoon, with the validation, AAR (After Action Review) and feedback presentation Sunday. We did fairly well, but have room for improvement in several areas.

Immediately following the AAR/feedback presentation on Sunday, we began our next round of classes = no rest for the weary. Today and tomorrow we will complete our PR (personnel recovery) classes. PR is the new spin on what used to be known as Escape and Evade. It’s interesting stuff and one of my favorite subjects.

I’ll fly a Blackhawk down to Texas on Wednesday, and then we will take all that we have learned and put it to the test later this week in an evasion exercise. It should be fun!

I can’t wait to hug those boys and hold baby girls!

  2. Wow, glad you’ll be home soon. Nate is right - all the kids have changed, grown and will jump your tired body when you get home. Be prepared for many hugs & kisses. We’ve all missed you!
