I not cute
Friday, June 29th, 2007
I said to Gage this morning, “I am happy!” He replied, “You not happy. You my mommy.”
Then I said, “Gage, you are so cute.” He replied, “I not cute. I Gage. And I not pretty.”
I have to add this one to the list of funny quotes I keep.

A Chair
Wednesday, June 27th, 2007
Nate took some pictures of the girls in about three minutes before a huge thunderstorm yesterday. We just bought this funky chair for portrait shoots and decided to use them as our test shots.
Not much new here. We are excited for “Stacy the Great” and the Parker Family to arrive for the weekend.

Crazy night but they all managed to fall asleep at the same time. It was total mayhem at 9pm and then peace…aahhhh by 9:15pm!
Anyway, I had to take pictures of each of them sleeping with their Dad. Not the best pictures…but at least he can see that they are each covered in him. [...]

Tie Dye
Monday, June 25th, 2007
Last June Briggs and I made tie dye t-shirts (what a mess!). I just ran across this image and thought it would bring a smile to Tim’s face. All three boys wore these on the Fourth of July. I have always liked this image but I like it more now after seeing where the [...]

We finally are getting rain after weeks of drought-like weather in Indiana. It is one of those nights where you can open the windows, feel the breeze and the sound of rain can lull you to sleep.
Just before ‘lights out’ I heard Briggs say, “That is music to my ears.” I didn’t know what he [...]

Saying no
Saturday, June 23rd, 2007
Saying no is sometimes the hardest thing to do (at least for me), especially to someone that I care for and respect. And…I am not talking about saying no to my children. Heck…I say no all day long.
So…why do I find it so difficult to say no to a request I know that [...]

Catching up…
Thursday, June 21st, 2007
We hit a rough point this past weekend. Weekends are typically rough to get through anyway. But the fighting and complaining cumulated this weekend between Briggs and Gage. I never anticipated there would be contention between two that are four years apart…but I am here to tell you…they play great together and fight [...]

Wakeup call…
Wednesday, June 20th, 2007
I have always known that I will command young soldiers in combat, but it caught me off guard today when the birth years were called out to the soldiers. Specifically, I have several soldiers whose birth year is 1988. 1988? 1988? I was in college in 1988!
These kids will grow up very [...]

Father’s Day
Saturday, June 16th, 2007
Apparently the mail system is slow as molasses in Ft. Sill despite having paid for overnight delivery! Unfortunately, our packages did not arrive so this is what I mustered up…another ‘body’ message and some recent images. I asked what the boys liked best about their dad. Briggs said he likes playing baseball. [...]

Wild Man
Friday, June 15th, 2007
I have covered both Briggs and the twins recently on the blog. I promised I would write about Gage next. By the way, this should not be an indication of his ‘middle child’ status. I just couldn’t get him to sit still for a decent picture. Special thanks to Angela [...]

We received the second stage of the Anthrax immunization and the troops are definitely feeling it. The first immunization left a small knot in the back of the arm and this second one is noticeably worse. The majority of the guys also received the small pox vaccination and has left a few lethargic [...]

Safeguarding
Thursday, June 14th, 2007
In order to protect the soldiers that Tim is deployed with, I have removed the address from the blog. After the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01, the Department of Defense established new rules and regulations regarding mail being sent to our service members. So…if you are interested in sending something to Tim…please contact me via email [...]

Pantry Raid
Wednesday, June 13th, 2007
So while I was quickly writing the last post…I noticed it was a little too quiet in the next room. Sure enough, I left the pantry door open. One of the twins (probably Campbell) seized the opportunity and her sister followed. I think this is a sure sign of things to come. In any case, [...]

Tramp Time
Wednesday, June 13th, 2007
All of us are having a great time on the trampoline, as you can see from this image, including the adults. I had no idea what a workout it is to jump! I typically lie on there with the girls for an hour or so while Gage is sleeping. They love it. [...]

I wanted to take a moment and thank everyone who have been sending coffee, treats, and cards to the troops (and me) - or have financially supported the Family Readiness Group (FRG).
Special thanks to: Jean Foss, Julie Kimmel, Bill Keeling, Matt and Tracy Zimpfer, Beth Olsen (Davis) and her son, Suzanne Sutliff, Wayne and Judy [...]

We just returned from the Forward Operating Base and Tiffany’s correct, we found several (5) scorpions outside and inside the tents. We also caught a snake - near the water tank. Among other creatures, we saw three tarantulas and a horny toad. The FOB is abundant with life - as it sits nestled [...]

11 months
Saturday, June 9th, 2007
Tim returned from the FOB. He is missing the kids quite a bit. He said he would give anything to just hold the girls. So…I took some quick some pictures instead.
They are eleven months and on the move. It has been so breezy here you can see Campbell’s hair blowing in the [...]

My sidekick
Friday, June 8th, 2007
Briggs is becoming such a good kid. I, honestly, have been concerned at times that my kids aren’t going to turn out respectful, confident, loving, generous, hardworking and kind. But Briggs is demonstrating some outstanding qualities lately that give me great confidence in the future. So I am adding this to my [...]

A special message for their dad.
My kids are known for wearing no shoes thus having very dirty feet by the end of the day. It’s summer though, right? We just seem to run in and out so much… what’s the point! Plus grass feels so good on bare feet.
Briggs asked how permanent marker [...]

Since Tim has left…
Campbell is eleven months today and finally has her first tooth popping through! Despite being toothless she can eat real food. She carries around the phone constantly. Could this be a sign of things to come?
Emerson learned to crawl two days after Tim left. Since then she is non-stop. She and Campbell [...]

Kindness
Tuesday, June 5th, 2007
I have been thinking a lot about writing this post…especially when I get fortunate enough to go running! In fact, I sometimes feel like Forest Gump…like I could keep going and going. When you have a lot to think about and a little Justin Timberlake in your ear you can really put in the miles.
So [...]

I think when a husband/father deploys it actually does take a village. I am not sure who coined the phrase…I am thinking it may have been Hilary Clinton. But none of you Hilary-bashers send me any nastygrams. I am not sure if she said it or not. I should google it later. I like it [...]

FOB
Saturday, June 2nd, 2007
Tim and the troops are headed to a simulated FOB (forward operating base) for the next six days. Apparently, this fake city has been built in the middle of the woods near Ft. Sill. The purpose is to train in an urban-type setting.
The weather in Oklahoma has been surprising to the guys. It has been [...]
