No Slump
Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Okay…I will admit it…I kind of got in a slump today. Maybe because the one month mark is approaching. Maybe because it was the last day of school and I am fearing everyone being home all of the time. Or maybe it is because everyone seems to be running a fever and [...]

More Good Things
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

In keeping with my goal of writing about the ‘Good Things’ while Tim is gone, I am thankful for MY COUSINS. They are spoiling me this summer with plenty of visits.
Winden and Morgan plan to visit over the June 22nd weekend. It will be special as Winden and I share birthdays only one [...]

Army Dad
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Briggs drew a picture of his dad this weekend while we were visiting family in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Fabulous time, by the way. But don’t question a child on his drawing…I asked why his face was green. He looked at me and said, “Duh…he’s in camo.” I should have known.  My favorite [...]

Mother’s Day
Monday, May 28th, 2007

Nate just shared some of the images he took on Mother’s Day. We had a great celebration with great friends and family. It was especially nice because three women were celebrating their first Mother’s Day…Helena, Shannon and Maria. It was a PERFECT day. We fixed a delicious brunch then spent most of the day [...]

The Good Things
Thursday, May 24th, 2007

I have decided that throughout this deployment I will highlight the Good Things. It will keep me positive, and most importantly grateful for all that I have.
So…the first “Good Thing” to report is my boys. I was preparing myself for considerable behavior issues before Tim left. But, in general, they have done quite well. [...]

Kyle Family
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Nate and I just posted some portrait images of Kevin Kyle’s family on the Nathaniel Edmunds Photography blog.  He is currently deployed with Tim.  We were able to photograph the family shortly before Kevin “Brick” left.

Heavy Machine Guns…
Monday, May 21st, 2007

Unfortunately, the article read is fairly accurate. As you may have read in this and other articles published - our most recent threat in theatre is highly-coordinated heavy machine gun ambushes. Several articles cite 8 aircraft losses, since January 2007, to such attacks.
The ambushes are leveraging a the 14.5mm heavy machine gun, which [...]

Becoming Ignorant
Monday, May 21st, 2007

I really need to stay away from newspapers and the evening news for the next year.  And, I need to remind myself to do so.  But here I am waiting on my van to get serviced…so I pick up USA Today.  The leading article is “Copter Attacks”.  You would think I would just set it [...]

YouTube Slideshow
Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Todd Tuttle, one of Tim’s best friends, forwarded me this slideshow on YouTube today. A girl by the name of Lizzie Palmer put this together…she is on 15 years old. It has received over 3 million hits. YouTube SlideShow

Great Wife…
Saturday, May 19th, 2007

Everyone,
If you know Tiffany, even peripherally, you know what an incredible woman, wife, businessperson, and mother she is to our children.
Writing multiple letters everyday was simply a reflection of the “time-available” in that stage in our lives. Now we have four beautiful children, managed by a beautiful CFO (Chief Family Officer).
I’ll gladly forego all letters, [...]

Bad Wife
Saturday, May 19th, 2007

When Tim was in Ranger School, I sent him at least two letters a day…often times more. Partly because I wanted to really support him and keep his spirits high. Partly because I was absolutely in love with him and could not hardly bear being seperated for three long months. Really because I [...]

TV Coverage
Friday, May 18th, 2007

It occurred to me that some missed the interview that aired on WISH-TV evening news several weeks ago. It is entitled “Hooseir Medevac Pilot to be Deployed”. It highlights our family (crazy house) and Tim’s mission quite well. There was also news coverage on each news station from the formal send-off last [...]

Daddy Dolls
Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

A good friend of ours just sent me the web site, Daddy Dolls. It is so clever! I am ordering these for the kids. I don’t think it is necessary for these to be military-related. In fact, they could be of grandparents, best friends, etc. Enjoy!

Weapons…
Monday, May 14th, 2007

Also this week, we completed the academic and hands-on training on the MK19 (pronounced “Mark 19″ ) and M2 .50 cal (pronounced “ma deuce” or “50 cal”) weapons systems. The MK19 is a machine gun that shoots grenades (unbelivable weapon) and the .50 cal that is used against equipment and “light-skinned” armored vehicles. [...]

Anthrax…
Monday, May 14th, 2007

We received the highly-controversial anthrax vaccination this week. Along with protein that is developed from the anthrax bacteria, the vaccination contains several things including: alluminum and formaldehyde.
Our orders state that the anthrax vaccination is not required for deployment, but the Army passed a new law earlier this year that mandated the vaccination for all [...]

We’ve arrived…
Saturday, May 12th, 2007

All, Thank you all for your unbelievable support and care for our family!!! We are truly blessed to have you in our lives! Thank you! Most of the flight crews arrived late Sunday evening and the rest of our troops, by bus, Monday morning at 4:00AM. We’ve been immersed in multiple “in-briefs,” coordination meetings, inventories, unpacking, [...]

THIS HAS BEEN DELETED FOR SECURITY PURPOSES. PLEASE CONTACT TIFFANY FOR TIM’S MAILING ADDRESS.

More images…
Thursday, May 10th, 2007

I uploaded some different images to the Nathaniel Edmunds Photograph Blog that I thought might be of interest to some.
Tim finally was able to get online yesterday. He estimates that the connectivity in Iraq will be better than at Ft. Sill. Go figure!
He was, however, thankful for all of your comments.

Thanks, Dad!
Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Our oldest son made this for his dad at school today. He wanted me to send it to him right away. He said he wanted to thank him for protecting us.

And…he is off!
Monday, May 7th, 2007

We said goodbye to Tim on Sunday morning as he flew the last Blackhawk from Shelbyville to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
The kids and I were joined by our families for an emotional send-off. For the first time, I believe Briggs understood the situation, as well as a seven year old can. The three youngest [...]

Needed Items
Friday, May 4th, 2007

Many have asked what they can send to Tim and other deployed soldiers. So…I obtained this list from the most outstanding Family Readiness Group Leader, Denise Strange. We are waiting to find out if we will be able to ship packages from the Armory for free. I will keep you posted. There are some [...]

Tie a yellow ribbon…
Friday, May 4th, 2007

We are so blessed to live amongst neighbors (that are amazing friends). We were overwhelmed last Sunday when we went for a walk at 7pm and yellow ribbons were being hung by several neighbors. And…not just a few yellow ribbons…the trees in the neighborhood and lampposts are covered. It really is a beautiful site. I [...]

Keep in touch
Friday, May 4th, 2007

Tim will be checking the following email while deployed if you would like to get in touch with him directly…stoner.is@gmail.com
By the way…doesn’t he look like a total stud in this image…kind of like in Top Gun! Love it.
